The Lotterywest Avon Descent Festivals,  back with a series of thrilling, family-oriented events held annually. It’s the perfect opportunity for everyone—kids, teens, and adults—to get outdoors and dive into the excitement. Bring your family and friends along to experience the fun, festivities, and fantastic activities that await you on the riverbanks!

 

The held in Northam, Swan and Bayswater, enjoy free entry, rides, live entertainment, spectacular food, markets and cheer on the Race participants!

Sunday 1st August

Avon Descent Community Day – Armadale

Date: Sunday 1st August 2021

Time: 11am – 3pm

Location:  Champion Lakes Regatta Centre

In partnership with the Avon Descent, the City of Armadale is proud to present the Avon Descent Community day at the world-class Champion Lakes Regatta Centre as the first official event of the Avon Descent!

Come and try dragonboating, kayak and ski sprint races to watch, live music, activities for all ages, club stalls, food trucks and much more!

Friday 8 August

Northam Bilya Festival

Time: 4:00pm – 9:00pm

Location: Bernard Park, Minson Avenue, Northam

Supported by Lotterywest

 

Join the biggest street party in Northam at the Bilya Festival! Experience the Avon Descent powercraft on Friday afternoon followed by our spectacular community street parade you’re sure to enjoy. Explore this year’s Carnival, with free rides, roving entertainment, music, food and a fireworks finale to kick off the start of the Avon Descent weekend. Come and celebrate the evening in style with the Shire of Northam.

Sunday 10 August

City of Swan Avon Descent Festival

Time: 10:00am – 3:00pm 

Location: Lilac Hill Park, Caversham

 

This year’s City of Swan Avon Descent Festival is the perfect opportunity to get outdoors and experience the excitement of the race, which passes through the Swan Valley vineyard region, Upper Swan Bridge and Bells Rapids. At the Festival, spectators can adventure through the City’s winter wonderland, delight in the snow arena, and even try their hand at ice skating! You can also sample delicious gourmet food and wine from local growers as you wander through pop-up artisan markets and stalls.

The Avon Descent Festival is proudly presented by the City of Swan and Supported by Lotterywest and Perth Airport.

Basso’s Community Gathering – Town of Bassendean

View the Avon Descent from one of our picturesque riverside reserves.

The Town of Bassendean invites families to view the Avon Descent from the banks of beautiful Point Reserve. Pack a picnic and head down from 11:00am to enjoy free activities including a free sausage sizzle and giant games.

City of Bayswater Avon Descent
Finish Line Festival 2025

Nothing beats an exciting finish!

Time: 11:00am – 5:00pm

Location: Riverside Gardens, Milne Street, Bayswater 

Supported by Lotterywest

 Join support crews and spectators in welcoming competitors over the finish line of the Avon Descent! Find the best viewing points along the river to catch all the action as paddlers and mini jets all race towards the finish line. Enjoy a sensational day of free entertainment, children’s face painting, roving performers while enjoying food trucks and market stalls.

 

This exciting finish line event offers something for all ages, making it a perfect outing for everyone.
